Betsy Wilson from the FICPA has reached out with the following scholarship opportunities:

The FICPA Scholarship Foundation (SF) is pleased to advise you that for the fall 2018 semester, we are allocating University of South Florida-Tampa three (3) scholarships at $2,000 each, for a total of $6,000.

These scholarships are available to students who; a) are members of the Florida Institute of CPAs; b) have completed their junior-level accounting courses with at least a 3.0 cumulative and upper-division accounting GPAs (3000 courses or above); c) and, will be fourth-year accounting majors or fifth-year enrollees in upper-division accounting courses (4000 courses or above) at Barry University in the 2018 fall semester.

HOW TO APPLY
Students can apply online and upload their official transcripts and other requested documents at scholarships.ficpa.org/. The deadline for students to submit online applications is March 15th. If this deadline does not work with your academic calendar, contact us immediately.

CRITERIA
Attached are updated scholarship criteria for these awards. This year, applicants are required to arrange for at least one faculty member to submit a letter of recommendation. A sample recommendation form is enclosed. It is the student’s responsibility to download the form while completing the online application and arrange for a faculty member to send us their completed recommendation. Note: This faculty recommendation is in addition to overall scholarship recommendations by your school’s scholarship advisory committee.

Please note suggested faculty General Procedures in selecting applicants; paragraph 9 regarding non-transferrable scholarships and, paragraph 10 regarding recommending alternate(s). As in past years, students must upload their official transcript with their application.

PROMOTION
Your assistance is requested in distributing the enclosed flyer to increase student awareness of these scholarship opportunities. The Board of Trustees is looking for exceptional students, with real financial need, who will remain in Florida to practice.

DEADLINES & PROCESS
In March, you will receive a link for viewing all scholarship applicants from your school. In May, the SF Scholarship Allocation and Application Review Committee will review the student applications and your faculty recommendations. At its June meeting, our Board of Trustees will vote on the recommendations and award recipients will be announced. 

Please submit your recommendations (along with at least one alternate), including official transcripts, other required documents and your cover letter of recommendation no later than April 15, 2018 to Betsy Wilson at betsy@ficpa.org or 3800 Esplanade Way, Suite 210, Tallahassee, FL 32311.
