At Beta Alpha Psi, we believe in stewardship – which is the idea that we’re here for a purpose. That purpose is to ensure that we leave our families, our communities, our companies, our work teams, our world – whatever we touch – better than when we started.

With our new BAP community service initiatives (Pizzo K-8 and Bulls Pantry) we hope to foster this idea of stewardship.

Through these new initiatives you will be able to meet your in-BAP community service requirement, while the other community services opportunities provided will satisfy your out-of-BAP requirements.

As a reminder, the requirements are:

  • Candidates: 12 hours total, 4 outside and 8 inside of BAP.
  • Members: 8 hours total, 4 outside and 4 inside of BAP.
  • 25% Members: 4 hours total, outside/inside of BAP.

For any questions and concerns regarding Community Service, feel free to reach out to the Community Service Chair.

Pizzo K-8

Pizzo is a mainly minority-based school which consists of 90% + of students and staff being minorities. Additionally, 84% of students who attend this school are on free or reduced lunch. Pizzo K-8 has one of the lowest math test scores in the entire state of Florida. We are partnering with Pizzo to help tutor their students to help them on their academic journey. We hope that by incorporating some of USF’s best accounting students, we can boost their overall math test scores to rival some of the state’s more privileged programs. With this, we are also fundraising and holding ongoing donation/supply drives to help these students, teachers, and the student’s parents to be able to better their overall quality of education.

Schedule: Fridays 10 am-12:45 pm

Bulls Pantry

Bulls Pantry is USF’s on campus food pantry for students in need. The pantry is located in the Student Services building on campus and is available to any student in need, whatever their situation. Students can enter the pantry during their hours of operation and simply “shop” for the food they need. Our Beta Alpha Psi chapter would like to contribute to this wonderful campus organization in a meaningfullasting, and fun way!

We would like to form a team of Delta Gamma members and candidates to commit to Bulls Pantry food donations as their community service initiative for this semester. This community service opportunity will be made extra fun with the addition of Xtreme Couponing!

We have set a goal for the Bulls Pantry community service group to make monthly food donations to the pantry between now and the end of the semester, and those food donations will be purchased by the BAP members and then reimbursed by the chapter. Therefore, to keep our related expenses as low as possible, and to make the experience more meaningful for those involved with the project, we would like the food donations to be purchased using extreme couponing methods with the goal of donating as much food as possible for as little money as possible.

The time commitment for this opportunity will be determined by the members involved. Once the team is formed you all will meet on your own schedules, overseen by myself. Any hours spent meeting up to coupon, shop, transport, and drop off the food donations will count as community service hours, so you all should be able to hit your community service requirements easily throughout the semester.

The time commitment is expected to be anywhere between 1-3 hours per month of couponing together, and roughly 1.5 hours per month shopping for and dropping off the donations.
