Pizzo K-8

USF’s Beta Alpha Psi, home to some of the top accounting students, is partnering with the Pizzo K-8 school to help their students and teachers continue their education. Pizzo K-8 is located right across from the Yuengling Center and is composed of over 90% minority students. Pizzo K-8 ranks in the top percentile of Florida schools for students on free lunch and ranks in the lowest percentile for student math test scores. We at Beta Alpha Psi-Delta Gamma Chapter have set forth to try and help these students continue their education by not only supplying them with the tools needed for schooling but also by tutoring them every Friday. Some areas of tutoring include General Math, Algebra, Civics, Physical Science, and ELA.

This initiative has a time commitment of about 2-4 hours every Friday. This is for BAP volunteering hours. Students are required to see this event through, until the end of the semester. We encourage candidates and members who are interested to email the chair below for more information.

Bulls Pantry

Bulls Pantry is USF’s on campus food pantry for students in need. The pantry is located in the Student Services building on campus and is available to any student in need, whatever their situation. Students can enter the pantry during their hours of operation and simply “shop” for the food they need. This semester, our Beta Alpha Psi chapter would like to contribute to this wonderful campus organization in a meaningfullasting, and fun way!

We would like to form a team of Delta Gamma members and candidates to commit to Bulls Pantry food donations as their community service initiative for this semester. This community service opportunity will be made extra fun with the addition of Xtreme Couponing!

We have set a goal for the Bulls Pantry community service group to make monthly food donations to the pantry between now and the end of the semester, and those food donations will be purchased by the BAP members and then reimbursed by the chapter. Therefore, to keep our related expenses as low as possible, and to make the experience more meaningful for those involved with the project, we would like the food donations to be purchased using extreme couponing methods with the goal of donating as much food as possible for as little money as possible.

The time commitment for this opportunity will be determined by the members involved. Once the team is formed you all will meet on your own schedules, overseen by the chair. Any hours spent meeting up to coupon, shop, transport, and drop off the food donations will count as community service hours, so you all should be able to hit your community service requirements easily throughout the semester.

I would envision the time commitment being 1-3 hours per month (September, October, November) of couponing together, and roughly 1.5 hours per month shopping for and dropping off the donations.

For those interested in the Bulls Pantry initiative you will receive an email with a spreadsheet to sign up near the beginning of the semester. Once we have a group, I will reach out to you all about meeting together for the first time and I will give a couponing lesson to get you all on your way with this exciting initiative.

VITA CHAIR

Join our VITA volunteer team and make a real difference in your community! The IRS's Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program provides free tax preparation help to low-income individuals, families, and those with limited English proficiency. As a volunteer, you'll help ensure that eligible taxpayers receive the assistance they need, making the tax process less stressful and more accessible. No prior experience is needed—training is provided, and your contribution can have a direct impact on someone's financial well-being.

Other Opportunities

As we’ve already announced the BAP community service initiatives, I wanted to share some outside service opportunities with you. Remember candidates are required to complete 12 hours, 8 hours of which must be in BAP so 4 hours can be done with any other organization. Members need 8 hours and a maximum of 4 hours can be outside of BAP.

Some opportunities outside of BAP are the Humane Society of Tampa Bay and Feeding Tampa Bay. You can click the links above to find their calendars for quick access to their sign ups. For any volunteering events outside of BAP, you must complete an independent activity form which I have also attached below.
