Hey BAPpers,

Please see the below opportunity for a part-time job with VHA southeast.

<hr ="100%">

VHA Southeast is a local for-profit company which is a co-operative of not-for-profit health care organizations in the states of Florida and Alabama as well as the US Virgin Islands. We are affiliated with VHA Inc. which is based in Irving, TX and has regional offices throughout the country. VHA and VHA Southeast operate to improve the clinical success of our member organizations as well as to reduce their supply spend, through Novation, VHA’s supply company.

We’ve had a recent staffing change in our office and are exploring the possibility of identifying someone who would be interested in working part-time as a paid accounting intern to process our accounts payable (done twice monthly) and direct deposits of staff travel expenses (weekly) along with some general month-end types of things. There may be other things added along the way, but I wouldn’t anticipate a commitment of more than two days a week, and we have the ability to be fairly flexible with our schedule. This might be a good opportunity for a student given our flexibility and hours needed.

We are making a difference by teaming up to participate in the American Cancer Society’s Relay For Life.

At the event, our team will camp out overnight and take turns walking around the track to raise money and awareness to help the American Cancer Society create a world with less cancer and more birthdays.

Member Spotlight:

Leigh Mischnick

Leigh was born and raised in “Nebraska, The Good Life” in the capital of Lincoln, to be exact. Leigh went to the University of Nebraska-Lincoln for two years and was planning on completing her degree in international business. In 2008, she spent 5 months studying abroad in Montevideo, Uruguay to fulfill Spanish language and other program requirements. When Leigh returned, she decided that she couldn’t sit still in her hometown for any longer, and made the move to, ‘The Sunshine State’. After working and gaining residency, then going to USF for a year, Leigh had a fantastic Business Statistics II TA, who is also a BAP Alumni, and she was shown the wonderful world of accounting (and also got her a job)! Leigh realized that everything she wanted from an international business career, she could get from the accounting profession. Leigh will graduate with her Bachelors this summer, then plans on finishing her CPA requirements within the MAcc program this fall. After she starts full-time with Grant Thornton in Audit, Leigh will most likely finish up her Masters with a few classes at a time. A personal educational goal of Leigh is to fluently speak Spanish by the age of 30. You go girl!
