<p>    BAP Best Practices Technology Team has created a new way for members and candidates to ask questions to BAP Alumni, Professionals and Upcoming Speakers. <p>    Phi Beta Lamba is hosting their first annual “Date &#038; Tutor” Auction. The auction will be held on <strong>Thursday, February 9th at 5:00pm</strong> in BSN 225. All proceeds will benefit March of Dimes Charity. If you are interested in participating, please nominate yourself here: <a href="https://docs.google.com/a/mail.usf.edu/spreadsheet/viewform?formkey=dEN1R2FJTDR1YzB6enFueTY2QzBCMHc6MA">“Date and Tutor” Nomination Form</a>.</p>
<p>    USF SG is sponsoring free tax services from H&#038;R Block for all USF students.  H&#038;R Block will be in MSC2706 on <strong>Wednesday February 8th from 10:00AM to 2:00pm</strong>; and MSC2702 on <strong>Wednesday February 15th from 10:00AM to 2:00PM</strong>.</p>
<p>    The Insurance Accounting &#038; Systems Association Insurance Industry Collegiate Scholarship program was established in 2009 to provide scholarships to collegiate students preparing for a career in the insurance industry. Those of you interested in going into the insurance industry can find an application for the scholarships attached to this e-mail.</p>

<p>    Signups are available for a wide variety of community service projects. Keep in mind that members must complete 8 hours of community service, and candidates 12 hours.</p>

The first half of the meeting will be hosted by Grow Financial on “Setting Yourself up for Financial Success” and the second half of the meeting will be hosted by BAP Best Practices Team presenting on “How to Save in College with Coupons”! </p>

<h2>Job/Networking Opportunities:</h2>
<p>    Quality Distribution is looking for a Staff Financial Auditor.  In this role the Financial Auditor will be responsible for assisting in an independent appraisal of the effectiveness of financial controls, operational controls and evaluating compliance with internal control systems.  Quality Distribution is looking for candidates that are pursuing their bachelors or graduate degrees and will be looking to become a CPA candidate. <p>    Beta Alpha Psi is organizing a paid tutoring program. Students in need of tutoring will be matched with tutors from Beta Alpha Psi, and pay will be negotiated by the student and tutor. <p>    On <strong>February 14th</strong>, Protiviti, an internal audit firm, is hosting a 1/2 day CPE discussion around the revenue cycle for Baycare Health Systems. They will have several presenters from our healthcare practice and the attendees will include several Protiviti employees and members of the Baycare team. If you are interested in learning more about the healthcare world, Protiviti would like to extend the invite to you. Since they are looking for no more than three students to attend, please send an email to <a href="mailto:jcainas@coba.usf.edu">Professor Cainas</a> as soon as possible so she can put you in touch with our contact at Protiviti, Ali Hall.</p>
<p>    Additionally, Protiviti is planning an Initial Public Offering (IPO) readiness seminar with Carlton Fields, RR Donnelley and a representative of NASDAQ on March 5th. <h4>Matthew Gill</h4>
<p>Matt was born and raised in Miami, Florida. After graduating from Coral Senior High, Matt moved to Tampa to begin his accounting adventures at USF. He is currently in his last semester before receiving a Bachelor’s degree in May of this year. Prior to continuing his education by pursuing a MAcc degree, Matt will be spending this summer as an intern with Ernst &#038; Young in the MRAS branch. His goal is to someday merge his passion for sports and accounting experience into a career with a professional sports team or organization. Matt has always demonstrated a propensity for a variety of sports. In high school he was on the baseball team and in a bowling league. He also belonged to a magnet chorus program from middle school through high school. His magical voice gave him the opportunity to gain a better education than would have been otherwise possible.</p>

<h4>Michele Nisi</h4>
<p>Michele was born and raised in Holiday, Florida. Prior to attending USF, Michele received a B.S. in Forest Resources and Conservation from the University of Florida. After a brief stint as a contractor for an environmental consulting company, Michele joined vWorker as arbitrator and office manager. Michele is graduating in May of this year with a second B.S. in Accounting. She plans on completing her CPA requirements and passing the CPA exam the with flying colors. Her goal is to gain experience with a CPA firm before transitioning into private sector as an internal auditor. She intends on keeping her options open and is considering eventually continuing her education and pursuing a PhD. Beyond work and school, Michele currently plays soccer with Tampa Bay Club Sport. She has been playing soccer since the age of six. Her passion for sports extends beyond soccer. She is an avid fan of Tampa sports teams such as the Lightning and the Rays. She is also a dedicated college football spectator. Although sports run through her blood, Michele’s competitive side takes a vacation when she turns on her Xbox Kinect to play Just Dance.</p>

<p>Good luck to everyone who will be participating in the USF Career Fair!</p>
<h2>Announcements:</h2>
<p>    Beta Alpha Psi and the Student Finance Association are sponsoring a special presentation titled “Risks and Rewards in the Finance Industry” by Charles H. Conner Jr. The event will be held in the College of Business atrium on <strong>Tuesday January 31stfrom 5:30 to 7:30PM</strong> </p>
<p>   <a href="http://www.usfbap.org/other-events/">Signups</a> are available for the Kick Ball Tournament, which is on <strong>Saturday, February 4th, from 9:00AM – 1:00PM</strong>. We are also offering opportunities to students who would like to play on different firm’s teams. This gives members and candidates the opportunity to interact with different firms by participating on their team. </p>
<p>    <u>Please note our meeting room and time has been changed to <strong>Wednesday, 5:00pm</strong> in the regular BSN 225 Multipurpose room. </u></p>
<p>    There will be <strong>no committee chair meeting</strong> due to the change in meeting time. </p>
<p>    Please fill out the <a href="http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/6BDZ9NG">BAP Birthday Survey</a>. Every month, Christine Bartholome will be baking cupcakes for members and candidates who are celebrating birthdays in the designated month. </p>
<p>    USF Student Government is sponsoring free tax services from H&#038;R Block for all USF students. H&#038;R Block will be in MSC 3701 on <strong>Wednesday February 1st and February 8th from 10:00AM to 2:00pm; and MSC2702 on Wednesday February 15th from 10:00AM to 2:00PM</strong>.</p>

<p>    <font color="red">***BONUS ATTENDENCE POINT</font>: One bonus attendance/social point will be granted to any BAP member who attends the Charles Connor Speaking Engagement on Tuesday, January 31st at 5:30pm. If you have class at 6:20, you will still be given the one bonus attendance point if you leave the event early. </p>
<p>    Signups for Ernst &#038; Young’s and Deloitte’s socials are on the website.  Please signup ASAP so that we can give the firms an estimate of how many people will be attending.</p>

<h4>Christina Mueller</h4>
<p>Christina was born in Palm Harbor, but now resides in Tampa with her husband, Alex.  She is currently a MAcc student, and is expecting to graduate in December of this year. Christina will be spending the summer before graduating with KPMG as a tax intern. Although she is excited and grateful for this prestigious opportunity, Christina’s ultimate goal is to pursue a PhD in accounting and become a tax professor. This self-proclaimed nerd has a variety of interest ranging from video games to rock music and even cooking. Christina’s latest accomplishment involves her passion for costume making. Christina received a Judge’s Excellence Award as well as a Hall Costume Award for a dress she created based on the character Kaylee from the sci-fi TV series Firefly.</p>

<h4>Faith Burdell</h4>
<p>Faith was born and raised in Tampa. She is a nontraditional student who entered the health care industry after studying math and sigh language interpretation for two years each. After about five years of working with workers compensation, Faith returned to USF. She is currently completing her Bachelor’s degree in accounting, and is expecting to graduate in December of this year. After graduation Faith would like to continue her accounting education by pursuing a MAcc degree. Her goal is to turn her passion for traveling into a career by joining a CPA firm that will be able to provide her with global opportunities. Faith also has a passion for the martial arts. She has spent years studying different forms of martial arts including Tang Su do, Jujitsu, and Aikido all together as a mixed style. She spent a semester studying Shodokan at USF, and has spent the past two years taking Goju.</p>

<p>    The Accounting Circle is giving a presentation titled &#8220;Everything You Need to Know About the CPA Exam but Were Afraid to Ask.&#8221;  The event will be held on <strong>January 28th, from 1:00 to 4:00PM</strong>.  If you are interested in attending this presentation, please RSVP to Sue Gramby.</p>
<p>    This week’s meeting and social room has changed to the BSN board room 221 located across the hall from our regular meeting room BSN 225.</p>

<p>    The International Business Board at the University of South Florida is hosting the Florida Student Summit on Global Business.  The purpose of the summit is to bring like minded students together from across Florida who have an interest in global business across all industries, not just business. The summit is being hosted at the Marshall Center Ballroom on <strong>Friday, February 10th from 8:30AM to 4:00PM</strong>. <p>    USF Student Government is sponsoring free tax services from H&#038;R Block for all USF students.  H&#038;R Block will be in MSC 3701 on <strong>Wednesday January 25th from 10:00AM to 2:00PM; MSC2706 on Wednesday February 1st and February 8th from 10:00AM to 2:00pm; and MSC2702 on Wednesday February 15th from 10:00AM to 2:00PM</strong>.</p>
<p>    Beta Alpha Psi and the Student Finance Association are sponsoring a special presentation titled “Risks and Rewards in the Finance Industry” by Charles H. Conner Jr.  The event will be held in the College of Business atrium on <strong>Tuesday January 31st from 5:30 to 7:30PM</strong>.</p>

<h4>Aly  Anzalone</h4>
<p>Aly was born in Brandon, Florida but was raised in Plant City. Currently, Aly is finishing up the MAcc Program, graduating this semester, and will be moving on to completing her CPA exam with the help of Becker Fast Past in Summer 2012. In her free time, Aly enjoys playing volleyball, watching movies and reading. In fact, Aly enjoys reading so much, she reaches out to the authors of her favorite books and helps to moderate their online forms. In return, Aly receives a signed copy from each author!! Over the years, Aly has acquired a large book shelf of signed novels and tries hard to find the time to sit back and enjoy a great novel!</p>
<h4>Paul Vizzo</h4>
<p>Paul was born and raised in the freezing cold atmosphere of Boston, Massachusetts. After working in a variety of industries, Paul decided to give up the cold and head to the Sunshine state. Currently, Paul is graduating with his bachelor&#8217;s in accounting this semester will be completing an Advisory internship with E&#038;Y during Summer of 2012. In his free time, Paul enjoys reading, traveling and exploring different locations across the country. He also spends some of his free time restoring and rebuilding classic cars. His favorite car in which he enjoyed working on the most was a 1966 Chevy nova.</p>

<h3><strong>Job Opportunities:</strong></h3>
<p>Goldman Sachs &#8211; Spring 2012 Salt Lake City Diversity Symposium &#8211; On Tuesday, February 7th, Goldman Sachs will be hosting an all-day information session outlining the different opportunities offered through the Goldman Sachs Federation. Interviews for these summer analyst positions in these divisions will be held the following day, Wednesday, February 8th.  The deadline for applications is Sunday, January 22nd. </p>
<h3><strong>Member Spotlight:</strong></h3>

He graduated from Hillsborough High School 3rd in his class and was a Tampa Tribune Scholar for graduating class 2006.  Christopher is actively pursuing his CPA license and will complete his Masters of Accountancy in May of 2012.  Christopher recently obtained a full-time position with Deloitte and will start in the Fall of 2012.  In his free time Christopher enjoys going to the beach, watching movies, shopping, roller skating, and hanging out with friends. </p>

She graduated in December with bachelors&#8217; degree in accounting and criminology.  Currently, she is pursuing her Master&#8217;s of Accountancy while being a teaching assistant for Principles of Managerial Accounting. Julie passed all four parts of the CPA exam last summer and will be starting full-time as an audit associate with Ernst &#038; Young in Fall 2012. In her free time, Julie can be found front and center of the Pilates and Zumba group fitness classes at the rec center.</p>

You must have signed up previously to participate.  </p>

<p>    Campus Ambassador for Becker &#8211; There is an opportunity for a part-time job, for juniors and seniors, working as a Campus Ambassador for Becker. Upon completion of the program you will receive a certificate that can be redeemed for all four parts of the Becker CPA Exam review for free or at a reduced rate.
