Professor Cainas grew up in a small town outside of Ithaca, New York. After attending a small university in Pennsylvania for one year, she decided to pack all of her belongings into her car and move to Tampa in 1988. She attended the University of South Florida from 1991-1996, earning a Bachelor of Arts Degree and a Master’s Degree in Accounting. She was also a member of Beta Alpha Psi’s Delta Gamma Chapter. Professor Cainas is a licensed C.P.A. in the State of Florida, and, during her professional career, she worked in the financial services and insurance industries. Most recently, she was a controller for a Fortune 500 company prior to returning to USF full-time as a faculty member.
In addition to serving as the Beta Alpha Psi Faculty Advisor, Professor Cainas is a board member of the FICPA West Coast Chapter, a member of the FICPA Relations with Accounting Educators Committee, and the treasurer of the Tampa Catholic High School Parent Club. In her spare time she enjoys watching her children’s athletic events, working on various home improvement projects, taking pottery classes, and spending quality time with her dog, Blacky.
